Ah man that's good.

You may have noticed something off to the side there. Called 'Interchange with the Ohmu".

If you can I suggest hitting the play button. It might be quite the same for you as it is for me but that song is powerful.

It's from the movie "Nausicaa of the valley of the wind", great movie in my opinion. But I have a memory of seeing it way back when, in the days before such types of movies and programing were generally know to those of us in the US. Back then it was called warriors of the wind and I hear it was totally butchered when they imported it then.

Now I don't know about that but I do remember thinking that this was one of the most powerful things my young self had ever seen. Yes it's animated, but this is not a cartoon; not as we know them.

It was the first incling I had to what could be done with animated movies. So it's natural that the song here is a bit more powerful for me than it might be for some of you. It's from a scene that is the one thing I remember from a movie almost two thirds of my lifetime behind me.

But it's more then that. If you've seen the movie you know the scene it's from and you know it's a powerful scene. The pivotal moment in the whole movie. If you haven't seen the movie, go watch it, I'm trying really hard not to spoil it.

The movie is a sci-fi animation out of Japan, about a future time when the majority of the world seems to be overrun by a toxic Jungle and it's giant monster insects. But it's really about how we relate to one another and how we relate to our planet. It's about really being heroic and not just beating the bad guys, and that not all issues are black and white.

I think that's part of why it was a memorable moment in my youth. Imagine being not even a teen yet and seeing what you would have thought was a simple cartoon, but it shows you the shades of grey that are the facts instead of the black hats and the white hats. The story has a deep respect for our planet and it's delicate balance and a need to listen to the earth, to respect it and work with it. And on top of it all is a character who fights for ... well everything and everyone and she does it in a way so unlike any of our action heros in the movies. She's not a gun weilding hard as nails character and ... well just watch it.

But my point is that it was a bit of a wake up for many of the aspects of who I grew up into. So Yeah I'm a bit biased about the silly little song to the left, but maybe some others are too. And maybe more will be.

Warning though, it's one of those that has a habit of sticking in the back of your head. It's sort of addictive for me. I think I'm going to listen to it again before I go to some other website to take care of some things.

I have more to say but it will wait til tomorrow.

Take care of yourselves.
Roving Jack
