All things Jack

I've been distracting myself from my procrastination (I told you I was a master of procrastination, don't try this at home) by trying to come up with some interesting costume/clothing combinations.

Partially inspired by watching Mom and Dad save the world. Emperor Tod has some great outfits.

Anyway I thought it might be fun to do up something that has all the parts of the outfit include the name Jack.

The first part to set this off was stumbling across something called a Jack of plates. It's essentially an internally armored doublet. The padded version doesn't require sewing steel armor segments into the lining.

That lead me to remembering a type of trouser that's picked up a nickname of steeplejacks (they are based on the concept of the Japanese Tobi pants).

Then there are hobnail Jackboots.

It took me a bit of time to realise that a lumberjack hat would do alright if properly worked in.

But I'm still debating the use of the crackerjack navy dress uniform top. I was rather hoping for something white but the blue is the one called crackerjack. and I'm not sure I like the tar flap around the neck, leastwise not for the look in this outfit.

I never actually expected it to look as good as I forsee this looking, the componants come from disparate cultures and times but with careful planning seem to come together nicely.

Thoughts are welcome, as well as other things with Jack in the name. Jack knife, blackjack, jackdaw, jack rabbit, jack-o-lantern...

take care of yourselves,
roving jack
